SINTERFACE

Interfacial Shear Rheometer

ISR-1

Measure the mechanics of liquid interfaces.

The ISR-1 is a highly sensitive interfacial shear rheometer designed to quantify the shear elasticity and viscosity of adsorption and spread layers at liquid interfaces. Based on the torsion pendulum principle, it enables measurements that are beyond the capabilities of conventional forced-oscillation systems.

The ISR-1 platform

High-sensitivity interfacial shear rheology.

The ISR-1 measures the viscoelastic properties of liquid interfaces using the torsion pendulum principle. Designed for highly sensitive interfacial shear rheology, it enables reliable characterization of adsorption layers and Langmuir films that cannot be investigated with conventional forced-oscillation instruments.

Its exceptional sensitivity makes the ISR-1 particularly suitable for weak, dilute and soft interfacial films while providing long-term studies of structural evolution over extended adsorption times.

Measurement principle

Interfacial structure through torsional motion.

The ISR-1 applies the torsion pendulum principle to determine the shear elasticity and shear viscosity of interfacial layers. A measuring body positioned at a liquid/gas or liquid/liquid interface responds to torsional excitation, allowing the viscoelastic properties of weak adsorption and spread layers to be quantified with exceptionally high sensitivity.
